Alysha Pamphile, 33, is a budding filmmaker from Orange, NJ. Starting off her journey in Performing Arts as
a ballet dancer, she never imagined that her life would be anything like it is today. Her journey of
self-discovery began in 2006 after the sudden passing of her father. Alysha dropped out of college that year
and traded university life for a 9-5 lifestyle. She spent her early 20’s working for AT&T and Comcast Cable.
By the age of 23, she was laid off and yet again, felt hopeless. She was unemployed with no college degree.
That is when Alysha decided to focus on herself and regain control of her life in hopes of finding her
purpose. She headed back to school that year and changed her major from Education to Communications.
She started taking film classes and learned that she always had the natural desire to capture moments in
time through a camera lens. She followed her heart and pursed her Associates Degree in Communications
at Essex County College in Newark, NJ graduating in 2011 and continued on to Rutgers University – Newark
that year and majored in Video Production. While working towards her Bachelor’s Degree, Alysha broke into
the entertainment industry as a 25-year-old, unpaid intern at America’s largest hip-hop radio station — HOT
97. With hard work and sleepless nights, she eventually landed a part-time position as a Video Producer at
HOT 97 after she graduated from Rutgers in 2013. She assisted in curating some of the brands most
notable pieces of content. While working part-time at the radio station, she applied and landed a business
summer internship at Associated Press where she gained her skill sets in social media.
In December 2016, she became 1/5 of the Black Girl Podcast, an audio series about sisterhood, pop culture
and the personal experiences of young, career-focused black women who all hailed from Hot 97. As of
September 2017, Alysha is currently a Coordinating Producer at the Webby Award winning, digital media
company, Complex Networks. She plans to start working on her own creative pieces at the top of 2020.
Alysha uses her voice on BGP to advocate and shed light on the non-traditional paths to success. “The
journey that you thought you were going to take is not the journey that you’re supposed to have.” – Alysha

After the five media phenoms met and became friends at hip hop's most iconic station, Hot 97, they decided to make their hilarious conversations about life issues, sisterhood, pop culture, love, growth, and the pursuit of their dreams to the public. Listen every week as their differing opinions and life experiences lead them to understand themselves, and the world around them, a little bit better. Hopefully, you'll laugh, argue, and learn something about yourselves, too.
